1. Eat Smaller Portion Meals More often everyday! Most people are in the routine of eating three times a day, and most people struggle with gaining weight. You probably eat big meals at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Instead, try eating healthy snacks like fat free yogurt, almonds, and hard boiled eggs throughout the day and smaller portions at meal times.
2. Eat slower and you will eat less and still be full. It takes around 15 minutes before your brain registers that you are full. So slow it down a little. You are probably not as hungry as you think you are and you will lose fat by doing this.
3. Don't eat out of boredom. It's important to schedule your day, even if you are a stay at home mom. A well structured schedule provides a healthy routine in which you are busy and satisfied. You won't find yourself snacking on fat gaining foods if you are busy all day!
4. Take the stairs. This one sounds old fashioned and easy but every little thing can make a difference to help you with fat loss. Next time you go to the doctor, the bank, school, visit a friend or any place that has an elevator, just take the stairs. Over the course of a year this can burn over 10,000 calories, that's 5 pounds of fat!
5. Avoid processed foods. This one is pretty obvious. Stay clear of high fructose corn syrup, bleached flour, and refined sugars. These fats are much harder to burn than their natural counterparts.
6. Walk for 15 minutes everyday. If you are not exercising on a regular basis, try talking a short walk everyday. Most people are awake for about 14 hours a day, so finding 15 minutes to take a stroll would be only 1/56th of your day. Take the time to take care of your body by taking a walk and burn some fat.
7. Sit on a ball instead of a chair. If you're at a computer for a good part of your day, think about sitting on an exercise ball instead of your office chair! Doing this helps strengthen your core and burns calories and burns fat.
8. Avoid the temptation. Often times women (and men) do well, eating healthy all week, or all day, then splurging at the end of a good period of eating. To avoid this create healthy deserts and treats for yourself. I love fat free yogurt, and cooking brownies with splenda sugar.
9. Create a support group. Use your friends, family or spouse when you're feeling down. Sometimes a feeling of overwhelmed can take over when you are trying to lose fat with dieting. I call my friends and chat on the phone whenever these feelings take over.
10. DRINK LOTS OF WATER. This is probably the most simple, but most important rule of them all. Drink water throughout the day and your body will quickly flush out the fat in you body. This is an important aspect of any fat loss diet.
